The difference between a Type 1 and Type 2 plug is in its design, use and compatibility with vehicles and charging points:

• Type 1 is a 1-phase plug with 5 pins, mainly used on older or Asian electric cars such as the Nissan Leaf or Mitsubishi Outlander. This plug has a semicircular shape with one flat side at the top.
  
• Type 2. is the European standard and has 7 pins. This plug supports both 1-phase and 3-phase charging ., and is used by virtually all modern electric cars in Europe, such as the Tesla Model 3, Renault Zoe, Volkswagen ID series, BMW i4, and Hyundai IONIQ. The Type 2 plug is rounder in shape, with two small pins at the top and a central pin in the middle.

Which one do I need?

That depends on your car. Check your vehicle's connector. In Europe, Type is the most common standard.

A mobile charger, also called wall outlet charger is a portable charging cable that allows you to easily charge your electric car from a normal wall socket (230V). You plug the connector into a grounded household outlet, and the other end into your car - without the need for a permanent charging station.

Mobile chargers are ideal for situations where you don't have a charging station, such as:

• At home (for example, in the driveway or garage)
• On vacation
• With family or at locations without a charging station

They usually charge with 1-phase (2.3 kW to 3.7 kW), which means charging takes a little longer than with a fixed charging station, but it is a reliable and flexible solution.

Notice: Use always use an approved mobile charger with built-in protection against overheating and overloading. And be sure to use only a modern, properly grounded outlet use. Outdated or worn out outlets can overheat and are not suitable for long-term electric vehicle charging.

The charging speed depends on three factors: the charging cable, the connection to the car and the available mains voltage (1-phase or -3-phase).

A standard mobile charger via the wall socket (230V) usually charges with 2.3 kW, while with a 3-phase charging station you can charge up to 11 or even 22 kW can charge.

Slow loading can have several causes. Often it is due to the limitation of the on-board charger in your vehicle. For example, if your vehicle only supports 1-phase charging, you won't benefit from a 3-phase cable.

In addition, so can the power source (such as a standard wall outlet), ambient temperature or software limitations of the car limit the speed.

Always use a charging cable that matches the maximum charging capacity of your vehicle as well as the charging point, and check that your connection is stable.

No, fast charging via a regular charging cable is not possible. Fast chargers use a DC current connection, while regular charging cables provide AC current.

Fast charging is done through special fast charging stations (e.g. Fastned or Ionity) and requires a separate connection (such as CCS or CHAdeMO), which is already in the charging station as well as the car.

A standard Type 2 charging cable is therefore not suitable for fast charging, but is suitable for home or public AC charging stations.

That depends on your car and the connection to the charge point. Most modern cars in Europe use a Type 2 plug, suitable for both 1-phase and 3-phase charging. Older or Asian models sometimes still use Type 1.
