For older EVs and many plug-in hybrids

Charging cables with Type 1 plug.

Type 1 charging cables are often used with older electric cars as well as many plug-in hybrids (PHEVs), especially from Asian brands. Think of models such as the Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV, Nissan Leaf, Kia Soul, Opel Ampera and Chevrolet Volt.

The term Type 1 refers to the plug on the vehicle side of the cable - that is, the side you plug into your car. The other side of the cable (toward the charging station or mobile charger) in Europe is almost always a Type 2 plug. So when making your choice, pay close attention to which connection your car has on the car side.

Type 1 cables are suitable for 1-phase charging with a charging capacity of up to 3.7 kW or 7.4 kW, depending on your car. They are splash-proof, sturdy and suitable for everyday use - at home, at work or on the road.
