Usually extension cords usually have a vein thickness of 3x1.5mm², which can quickly overheat when used with high power. The maximum current for a 1.5 mm² conductor over 25 meters is 16A (3.68 kW) at 230V. For a 2.5 mm² conductor over 25 meters, this can be 16A at 400V (6.4 kW). By using thicker veins, the resistance is reduced, resulting in less heat development and therefore ensures safer use.
